Hi, I’m Austin Davis, a student of International Relations and Religion at Samford University. I love to write, but more importantly I love to learn. To chronicle this learning process in a public way, I have created a blog, “Life Under a Tree.” The title represents two elements of my life: God and Philosophy. While trees have represented philosophy ever since the first thinker sat under one, it also represents God’s incarnation, the Christ, crucified on a “tree.” The metaphor may be read in different ways, and I’ll leave it up to you to interpret it, but you have mine.
Life Under a Tree is personal to me. However, I hope I won’t focus on myself, but rather on the wild and confusing world around me. I consider this blog a personal exploration of that world. I hope you will enjoy reading it.
God’s peace,
Austin
